Hurricane Katrina Wipes Out Bay St Louis Aug 29, 2006
As a few of the regular readers of this page know, over the years I have always been pretty
casual about the hurricanes that threatened Bay St Louis. I talked about the water level rising, people going to
higher ground and etc. But Katrina brought the fatal bullet. Who would have imagined a 25 foot water surge driven
by winds over 100 mhp sowing destruction along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Mobile. Sad to say, it happened.
Turk's Head and the Breaker are both history. The camp has been taken to the land fill and the Breaker taken to
the salvage yard. If you care to see some of the details go to this link, GO.
Tropical Storm Bill Passes Through Bay St Louis
I left Bay St. Louis Monday, June 30th, as people there were moving their vehicles out to the main highway to higher ground in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Bill and the accompanying water. Click here to see some of the details.
The Happy Hooker Crews Scores
My good friend, Charles Thomas, chartered a boat at Biloxi to take his sons and their children fishing in the Mississippi Sound. He invited me as well and so this is a little story about that trip. Click here for the story.

Fishing the Laguna Madre
David and I went fishing on the Laguna Madre September 19th through 23rd, 2002. It was an unusual experience even though the fish did not fully cooperate and the wind was very active. Click here for the details of this trip.
The One That Didn't Get Away
Went fishing on the 18th of August with a friend of mine in Bay St. Louis, MS. We took his boat because we wanted to use the trawl for live bait. We went out at the launch in Waveland and after trawling for some live bait, we motored over to Cat Island to see what action we could get. This is the one that didn't get away. Several others,- some larger did get away, but we had a good time anyway.

ALFA Commodity Conference
Huntsville hosted the annual Alabama Farmers Federation Commodity August 1,2 and 3, 2002. Over 1000 ALFA members attended the conference and many participated in the various tours of local farming operations. One part of one tour visited our honey processing and queen bee raising area. My partner, Bill Mullins, handled the honey processing area and I did the queen raising presentation. The September issue of the ALFA magazine, Neighbors, contained a little write up about the Conference and tours. Click here to see the article.
See our participation in the Parade of Tall Ships in Mobile, Alabama, on the Fourth of July, 2002. This is the link to the page of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary site where the story is located.
Benson Graduates!

One of our Grandsons, Benson K. Green, graduates this week from the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts. His class is the 18th Graduating Class from this fine highschool located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Benson's older sister, Abbey, graduated from this school two years ago and has been attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy, New York, since then.
Benson plans to enroll at Ohio State University this summer and continue his studies there in Columbus Ohio.
Mae and I are driving to Natchitoches this Friday and will spend a couple of days participating in the festivities.
We're back!

This is not a really a story, but it has a message I thought might interest you. Go.
Project Queen Bee
One of my pastimes, hobbies or whatever, is raising queen bees. Bill Mullins and I work this interesting project together and use the queens for our own hives but sell most of them to folks in the Alabama and Tennessee area, from Nashville to Mobile. This year, because of the unusually cold weather we encountered during March, our schedule was set behind about three weeks, but we have now caught up with our deliveries, and are current with our commitments. For those unfamiliar with the queen bees, click here to see a sample of our product in the cell-finished stage.
Tenn-Tom Waterway Trip
In October, 2000, a good friend of mine Phil Orton, asked me to join him on a trip from Bay St. Louis, MS., to Florence, AL via the Tenn-Tom Waterway. He was taking a 36 foot Sea Ray to his cousin's marina and needed some company as well as some help handling the boat. Click here to read this story and see some pictures taken in this daily log our our journey through this beautiful waterway.
Guatemala Trip
In February 2001, Bill Mullins and I undertook a trip to Guatemala. Click here to view some pictures we took during our trip and read some of our comments. A word of caution here though, this is a large file and contains over 100 pictures, so it takes a long time to load, something anywhere from five to twenty minutes, depending on the speed of your machine/modem. Check the light on your hard drive during loading and as long as it continues to flicker, you know the file is being loaded. Sometimes the server dies after downloading about 3 mbs or so and in that case, not to worry, just hit refresh and the download will continue. You may have to do this several times before the file loading is complete. Hope you enjoy reading our story.
