A Testament To Live By
I will open my eyes to all around me,
For this is a beautiful world.
I will give of myself to humanity,
In order to gain knowledge.
I will share my heart and soul,
So that I am able to share yours.
I will not shy away from fear,
I will face it to gain strength.
I will not acknowledge hate,
Because it will be smothered with love.
I will not turn from the unknown,
Instead I will look upon it to learn.
I will not condemn your religious beliefs,
But I will respect your need.
I will not put myself above all others,
We must all to be equal and free.
I will not put off yesterdays plans,
Tomorrow may never come.
I will have my hopes and dreams,
And allow you to have yours.
I will never be lonely or without friends,
I have the world at my side.
I will not look to death as an end,
Only as a means to something new.
I will share my wealth within my soul,
To gain the richness of your heart.
I will not turn away from the poor,
Because of life, there is no poor.
I will help my neighbor to exist in time,
For all mankind has their purpose.
I will show what ever I have to lend,
And accept what you have to teach.
I will give understanding to confusion,
So that confusion can no longer exist
I will open closed doors of society,
Giving freedom of movement to all.
I will cause no harm and suffering,
Each one of us deserves to live in peace.
I will do today what needs to be done,
Considering yesterday as accomplishments.
I will look to tomorrow with contingency,
But not as an excuse for procrastination.
To be true to others, we must be true to ourselves.
