Welcome to the Hinton Township pages of the Mecosta Co., Michigan GenWeb Project. My name is Jan (Wilson) Ramos. I adopted this township because I am a direct descendant of Hinton Township's first white settler, John Hinton, and his first wife, Phebe (Ribble) Hinton. She holds the unenviable title of "first death" in Hinton Township.

My goal is to provide you with some background and resources for genealogical research for Hinton township. I do not live in or near Michigan so I cannot provide hands-on help, but these pages should give you the assistance you need to research your ancestors who lived in this locale.
