Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- July 24, 2009   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Something in today's image reminds me of a cosmic dust cloud, which is also a star nursery.   And that's what I named it.   The parent fractal is nothing -- the blank screen that results when the (1/Z)+C fractal starts to morph into the Z2+C fractal.   But the blankness turned interesting when I tried the 'bof60' inside fill on it.

It turned interesting enough, in fact, that the resulting image earns an 8.   If I had more time to work on the colors, I might have brought the image up to a rating of 9.

The result of calculating the included parameter file is worth the 8 minutes or so it takes to do the calculation.   And if 8 minutes is too long to wait, the finished image is available for immediate viewing on the FOTD web site at:
Heavy clouds, high humidity and showers of rain kept Thursday from being acceptable to the fractal cats of Fractal Central.   The temperature of 82F 28C was fair enough, but the cats demand sun.   My day was unusually busy.   When I fell behind however, FL stepped in to bail me out.

The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and don't ask 'what'.   These questions are too easy. Ask 'why'.   These questions are far more difficult but far more satisfying.
