Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:
Today we find ourselves still trapped in the Seahorse Valley complex, longing for some fresh scenery to enjoy, but with half a month yet to go before we escape from the four-dimensional trap.
Today's image is a zoom into the stripe at the bottom edge of yesterday's image. We have raised the maxiter to 125,000 and given the stripe quite a bit of stretching in the vertical direction to make sense of it. Without the stretching, today's scene would be a single horizontal line across the screen.
In my opinion, the sinuous hairline tendrils are the most interesting feature of the scene. At other angles such as the Mandelbrot and Julia, these tendrils form infinitely deep spirals, though nothing at all of a spiral nature is visible in today's image. (Actually, I consider fractal spirals to be over-rated and grossly over-represented.)
I rated today's image at a 6, none of which is due to the bland coloring. And don't be shocked at the calculation time of an hour plus 20 minutes. Eliminate the calculation by hurrying to the FOTD web site instead, where the image is or soon will be posted. The web site may be found at:
Absolutely perfect conditions prevailed here at Fractal Central on Sunday, though my weather-eye did spot one distant thunder cloud on the northeast horizon. The resident fractal cats spent the day enjoying the brilliant sun and temperature of 81F 27C. My day was spent recovering from the day before. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.
