Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- May 31, 2009   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

There are many Julia sets but only one Mandelbrot set.   Not true.   Just as there is a unique (totally perpendicular) Julia set associated with every point of the Mandelbrot set, there is a unique (totally perpendicular) perturbed Mandelbrot set associated with every point of every Julia set.

But this four-dimensional stuff is best left for another day.   Today we have a hastily-found scene in what is left of Seahorse Valley of the perturbed Mandelbrot set with an initial Z value of 0.6669953+0.6670071i.

The obvious ghost bud in the background is almost totally obscured by a spectacular foreground spiral.   I named the image "A Bud in Trouble" because of the distressed bud.   Since I have done this type of image so many times in the past, I gave it no rating.

The calculation time of 37 seconds can hardly be beat.   The trip to the FOTD web site also is hard to beat.   The web site may be found at:
The fractal cats enjoyed the near perfect weather here at Fractal Central on Saturday, while FL and I enjoyed an antiquing trip.   The total sun and temperature of 77F 25C was perfect for almost any activity, indoors or out.

The next FOTD will be posted in about 18 hours.   Until then, take care, and wonder why the world is the way it is.
