Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- May 04, 2009   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image lies rather deep in the Seahorse Valley area of its parent fractal, which is the same parent that has given us the past two day's images.   At this depth, the features have shifted almost completely from quadratic to cubic, though they remain far richer than those found in the pure cubic Mandelbrot set.

I named the image "Buds in Springtime" because spring is really blossoming here at FC in central Pennsylvania, and also because FL's enthusiasm for her garden has me thinking of flowers.

I rated the image at an 8 because I kind of like it.   Unfortunately, the calculation time of over 15 minutes is longer than I would have preferred, but then, good things sometimes take quite a while to prepare and cook.

Those who would rather pop a frozen dinner into the oven may see the finished image instantly on the FOTD web site at:
Overcast skies, light but steady rain, and a temperature of 57F 14C, made Sunday less than ideal here at Fractal Central.   The fractal cats turned sulky, but FL says this kind of weather is ideal for the new transplants in her garden.   I guess we'll call the day undecided.

My day was about average, with the philosophy brewing fast.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and search for the cause of the effect.
