FOTD -- April 21, 2009   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

With a heavy day Monday, I had too little time to work up a proper fractal, but I did find one that rates an everyday 5, which is average and leaves it to the viewer to decide how to define an average fractal.

The parent came into existence when I combined 2.5 parts of Z^(-1.7) with 0.25 part of Z^(-6.6) and added (1/C) to make a fractal that resembles a 3-leaf clover with curious decorations around the leaf edges.   Today's scene is located in an area of debris near an occluded bay on the southwest shore line of the largest clover leaf.

To raise the image from the grave, I needed to render the scene with the outside set to 'tdis'.   And even then I could rate it no more than average.

The name "Filler Thriller" implies that the image is merely a filler to take the place of the fractal with a rating of 9 that I might have found but did not find today.

The good news is that today's image calculates in about 1/1800 the time of yesterday's monumental calculation job.   But still, the finished image is posted on the FOTD web site at:
Heavy clouds, frequent showers, a blustery east wind and a chilly temperature of 45F 7C made things quite unpleasant for the fractal cats here at Fractal Central on Monday.   More work than expected made it rather unpleasant for me also.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and live life to the limit.
