Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- April 01, 2009   (Rating 7.5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Take away the texture and today's image is just another scene not very deep in East Valley of some Mini-Mandelbrot set.   But today's image has texture -- this is why I named it "Textured Textures" -- and the textures make the image worthy of being rated a 7-1/2 and named FOTD for April 1 -- no fooling!

The parent fractal was created by mixing 100 parts of Z^(-100) with plain Z and adding plain C.   This parent is nothing more than a large circle with cogs around its edge and a small minibrot where the east side of the circle meets the X-axis.   Today's scene is located on the south side of the East Valley of a tiny minibrot on the main stem of the small minibrot on the X-axis.

The calculation time of 7-1/2 minutes is a little slower than average, but not slow enough for severe impatience to develop.   And do not stop the calculation at the first pass.   The main effect of the image does not become apparent until the final pass has finished.

The image is or soon will be posted on the FOTD web site at:
Lots of sun and a temperature of 61F 16C kept the fractal cats of Fractal Central content on Tuesday.   A reduction in the work kept me content.   The appearance of daffodils, forsythia and the first spring growth on the fractal roses kept FL happy.

Unless the world ends first, the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until the world turns 360 degrees, take care, and think about solving the measurement problem.
