FOTD -- March 06, 2009   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's fractal is named "Technicolor Dream".   The name came about when I had trouble getting the over-abundance of colors under control.   The rating of a 7 indicates that I never did totally control the colors.   The calculation time of just over nine minutes leaves plenty of time to pour a drink, or do other convenient things, while the parameter file at the end of this discussion is running.

Those with no drink to pour or no convenient things to do may avoid the calculation time by surfing to the FOTD web site at:and enjoying the already-calculated image posted there.

The formula behind the image subtracts 2 parts of Z^(-1.8) from 2 parts of Z^(0.75), then adds (1/C).   This formula creates the rubber-duck parent fractal of the "Astro-Iterations" image of March 4.   Today's scene however is located on the front of the rubber duck's neck.

There is a disconnected hole just east of the parent rubber duck, which I have yet to check.   If I find anything of interest there, it will appear as tomorrow's FOTD.

The total sun continued here at Fractal Central on Thursday, but this time the temperature reached 50F 10C, which made things really feel like spring.   The sun in the window was actually a bit too much for the fractal cats, who deserted their shelf for the floor when the shelf got too warm for cat comfort.

Unfortunately for me, the day was still very busy, leaving no time at all to think of outdoors, though I did notice a look of gardening thoughts in FL's eyes.   If the work slows down, the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and like it or not, good luck always trumps hard effort.
