FOTD -- January 18, 2009   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I spent most of the day Saturday trying to thaw a frozen pipe, which, together with a bit of real work, left little time for fractal fun.   Today's image shows a Minibrot of order 7 with order-2 tendencies.

The name "Aquamarine Fantasy" refers to the blue-green border surrounding the Minibrot.   The rating of a 6 implies that I consider the image merely average.

The calculation time of under 1-1/2 minutes is pretty good, but viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at:is even better.

Saturday started with a frigid temperature of -11F -24C here at Fractal Central, and rose to a balmy high of 16F -9C.   When the ice-fog cleared out at 9am, the rest of the morning was sunny.   But clouds moved in during the afternoon and snow flurries began by 7pm.   The fractal cats huddled by the heat most of the day.

My day was occupied by trying to thaw the drain pipe of the fractal kitchen sink, which froze solid overnight Friday.   As of press time, with a temperature of 12F -11C, the pipe was still frozen.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and look lively.
