FOTD -- January 14, 2009   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

An unexpected last-minute change on a job we thought was already finished left little time for fractal diversion on Tuesday.   But the MandAutoCritInZ formula makes interesting fractals almost automatically, and using it, I found an emergency image in a few minutes.

The parent fractal is one of those double minus things with a prominent fan extending east from the origin.   Today's image is located in a small valley at the edge of the fan.

I named the image "Less Than Nothing", which probably refers to the effort I put into it.   The rating of a 7 seems fair.

The calculation time of 9 minutes may be avoided by surfing to the FOTD web site at:and viewing the finished image there.

Cloudy skies, a temperature of freezing and occasional periods of snow kept the fractal cats in poor spirits here at Fractal Central on Tuesday.   The changes to a supposedly finished job kept me in poor spirits.

The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and choose wisely.
