Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- January 01, 2009 (Rating 6) Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: For the first FOTD of the new year we conclude the current theme of minibrots on the edge of infinitely divided main spikes in the East Valley of the large minibrot. Today we check one of the 5 main spikes of the Z^(6.0000001)+C Mandeloid, and find much the same stuff that we found in the past 3 day's images. Since I am getting bored with this theme, I rated the image at a 6, which is not too bad, but still below FOTD standards. The most interesting feature of the image is the series of thin slices of order-6 minibrots at the center. I have not counted how many individual minibrots are merged into the sausage-shaped assemblage, but it must be in the dozens. The name "Happy New Fractal" is self-explanatory. My only comment might be to add that today's fractal is not very new. The fast calculation time of 2-1/4 minutes will cause little discomfort, and the finished image is or soon will be posted for even less viewing discomfort on the FOTD web site at: The day started with a snow squall here at Fractal Central on Wednesday, and continued with high winds, clouds, occasional snow flurries and dropping temperatures, which reached 25F -4C by sunset. The fractal cats did not like these conditions and comforted themselves by the warmest radiator. My day was only moderately busy. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.
