Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- December 31, 2008   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image, the last of this year, continues the exploration of the theme of the past two days, but with the exponent of Z raised from 2.0000001 to 4.0000001.   Much the same type of elements exist in today's image, which lies at the edge of the divided main spike in the area of the East Valley of the large minibrot.

Since the theme is growing stale, I could rate the image at only a 7.   The name "Double Your Pleasure" refers not to chewing gum, but to the doubling of the exponent from 2.0000001 to 4.0000001.   Unfortunately, the worth of the image failed to double with the exponent.

The calculation time of 3-1/4 minutes is about average.   The minute or so it will take to view the finished image on the FOTD web site at:remains, as always, a minute or so.

Total sun and a temperature of 43F 6C made the fractal cats' afternoon in the sunny southwest window a pleasure here at Fractal Central on Tuesday.   The blustery winds that blew outdoors did not disturb the inside comfort.

My day was busier than I would have liked, but with a bit of extra effort we finished the work by mid-afternoon.   The next FOTD, the first of the new year, will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and be aware of the hidden dangers lying in fractals.
