Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- December 23, 2008   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is closely related to the strange near-rectangle that exists in a Julia set of the East Valley area of the large split minibrot on the infinitely divided main spike of the Z^(2.003)+C Mandeloid.   Today's image is a Mandelbrot scene however, and contains no obvious rectangles.   But I would not be surprised if rectangles exist, hidden somewhere in the scene.

I named the image "Why? Why? Why?", and why not?   There certainly are enough shapes resembling the letter 'Y' surrounding the central minibrot.

Perhaps I was a bit conservative in the rating of 6, but the deed is done and the rating will remain.

The calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes is about average.   If this is too slow, time may be saved by viewing the image on the FOTD web site at:
There was ample sun here at Fractal Central on Monday, but the day started with a temperature of 9F -13C, which never rose above 21F -6C.   The chill displeased the fractal cats, who turned sulky and sought a warmer spot.   My day was busy with last minute preparations, etc.

If all goes well, the next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   If no FOTD appears, do not be surprised or concerned.   You will know I was too busy.   Until next time, take care, and the only true reality is what every person wants it to be.
