Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- December 11, 2008   (Rating 6.5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a Julia set of a point in the West Valley of the main bay of the parent fractal, which is a Mandelbrot set about half way morphed into a Z3.5+C Mandeloid.   The main bay of this parent is filled with debris and has a valley on the west side as prominent as the valley on the east side.

I named the image "Practical Split" for no rational reason.   The lack of a reason is no shortcoming, since I need no reason when I choose FOTD names.   The rating of a 6.5 honestly reflects what I consider the image to be worth.

The calculation time of 2-4/5 minutes borders on slowness, but is nothing that a SOTA machine cannot handle.   (Unless that machine turns panicky when it is fed an old-fashioned 16-bit program.)

Those with panicky units can still see the image in completed form on the FOTD web site at:
Heavy clouds and occasional rain here at Fractal Central on Wednesday spoiled the fractal cats' day.   The temperature reached a mild 52F 11C, but totally failed to make up for the lack of sun.

Despite the rainy weather, my day was fair enough.   The work, though heavy, is pretty much caught up, while the day's fractal is at least acceptable.   The next Fractal of the Day is due to be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and debate what might be wrong with our modern culture.   (Or on the other hand, what might be right!)
