FOTD -- November 21, 2008   (Rating 6.5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

More work than expected means less time to write a discussion than expected.   Today's image is a Julia set that shares the Seahorse Valley features of the Mandelbrot set with features of a Z16 Julia set.   I named it "Cogwheel Conundrum" because the words fit together in a rather satisfying way.

The rating of a 6.5 includes a 1/2 point bonus for my coloring, even though the colors were not as successful as they might have been.   But the calculation time of 5 seconds is an absolute pleasure.

An equal pleasure may be enjoyed by zooming out to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and enjoying the already-calculated image there.

Heavy clouds, intermittent snow, and a temperature of 32F 0C kept things unpleasant here at Fractal Central on Thursday.   Early in the day the fractal cats saw that they would have no sun, and took up their positions by the warmest radiators.

Except for the work, my day was average.

The next FOTD, hopefully a little better than average, will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and make waves.
