FOTD -- September 28, 2008   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's fractured image is an excursion into yesterday's image, which itself is an excursion into the image of Sep 18.   I named today's image "Fractured Rat's Nest".   That's what the angular jumble of fractal debris reminds me of.   I rated it at a 7 because of the surprisingly complex pattern themes scattered through it.

The fractal action in today's image was achieved by applying the 'atan' inside fill to the original scene, which is a blank screen when rendered in the normal way.   Most of the other inside fills do nothing with this image, but the 'zmag' fill works as well as the 'atan'.   The FOTD for tomorrow will be a further zoom into today's scene, rendered with the 'zmag' option.

The calculation time of 4-1/4 minutes is not as fast as some images, but still within reason.   The ultimate in logical reason may be achieved by surfing to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and viewing the finished image there.

Frequent heavy showers made Saturday a day that left much to be desired here at Fractal Central.   But all was not lost, for the rains washed out the planned all-day antiquing trip, which gave me ample time to explore in the world of fractals, a world that could be almost as real as the 'real' world.   When the temperature reached 68F 20C, it felt as muggy as midsummer, and the fractal duo went into stretch-out mode.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, give or take a couple.   Until then, take care, and the answers lie in the fractals.
