FOTD -- September 03, 2008   (Rating 4)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

A fractal with a rating of a 4 leaves much to be desired, but it's still better than the 3-rated image that passed for yesterday's FOTD.   The parent fractal was created by the formula Z^(1.666667)+C as it appears at ground level of the logarithmic ladder when no function is applied.

The most notable thing about the parent is its origin symmetry -- a most unusual thing to appear in a Mandeloid.   Even more interesting is the fact that many of its minibrots have a similar symmetry.   Today's image shows one of these almost-symmetrical minibrots.

I named the image "Original Symmetry" because of this symmetry.   The rather average calculation time of 3-1/4 minutes should cause little discomfort.   But if a problem should arise, the completed GIF image is or soon will be available on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

The third consecutive perfect day passed uneventfully here at Fractal Central on Tuesday.   The temperature of 86F 30C was a bit on the warm side, but the unusually dry air kept it quite comfortable.   The fractal cats, who might have seen the last of the manx, spent most of the day chasing each other up and down the hallway and getting into various other trouble.

My day was appropriately busy with non-fractal things.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then take care, and if elected president, I will give everything to everybody.
