FOTD -- August 27, 2008   (Rating 6.5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's 6.5 rated image truly gets "Something from Nothing", which is what I named it.   To begin, it consists totally of 'inside' stuff, but due to some quirk in the 'fmod' routine, the inside stuff inside the minibrot is more 'inside' than the inside stuff outside the minibrot.   Yes, I know it makes no sense, but that's the way it is.   (Changing the 'logmap' to 1 eliminates this quirk.)

The generating formula divides Z2 by (Z^(-2.1)+4).   The immediate result of this operation is a blank screen, which can be resurrected from the dead by the 'fmod' feature.

I really cannot say much more about the image, for I really have no idea what's going on with it.   But with its smooth coloring, it's an interesting fractal to study.   The calculation time of 1-1/3 minutes should cause no one any grief.   The pre-calculated image is or soon will be posted on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

An absolutely perfect day prevailed here at Fractal Central on Tuesday.   Perfection is defined by crystal blue skies, a few puffy clouds for decoration, low humidity, gentle winds, and a temperature of 79F 26C.   The fractal cats must have agreed, for they spent much of the day in the window, watching for Max the Manx cat, who is prowling the area, establishing his dominance.

My day was busy, which is about all that can be said.   The next FOTD, one with more substance, will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and what does a massless photon become when it sits at rest?
