FOTD -- August 10, 2008   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is one I found automatically.   I named it "Where Trees Come From" because with only a slight change of parameters, I could turn the Julia image into one of those fractal trees.

But today we have no trees.   We have a surreal something, vaguely resembling a slavic helmet, better seen than described.   There is no way I could honestly rate such a quickie image, so I let it go unrated.

The calculation time of just under 9 minutes is longer than I would have preferred.   But give Paul a chance to calculate and post the image, then rush to the FOTD web site to enjoy it.   The web site may be accessed at:

With full sun and a temperature of 79F 26C, Saturday was the picture of perfection here in the Fractal Central area.   The fractal cats must have agreed, for in the late evening when we returned from the day out, we found three waste baskets over-turned and the contents scattered -- a sure sign of bored and discontented cats.

With little harm done, I managed a FOTD, though a bit too late to post on time.   However, the next FOTD will be posted on time in 6 hours or so.   Until then, take care, and fractals are the spirits of numbers, or are numbers the spirits of fractals?
