FOTD -- August 06, 2008   (Rating 5.5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's quickie fractal will cause no one pain.   At the same time it will set no new records for a fractal rating.

The image is the center part of its parent fractal, which is a Julia set of the Mandeloid that results when Z2 is divided by ((Z6)+0.6).   The Mandeloid is still dominated by Z8 elements, though even with only 0.6 added, the western bay is already growing larger.   Today's Julia image corresponds to the northern branch of the valley setting off this enlarging bay.

A quick glance will reveal that the image is far too busy, with too many clashing colors vying for attention.   It really doesn't deserve even the lowly rating of a 5.5 that I gave it.

The strange imag(p3) parameter was found at random by the evolver feature of Fractint.   The value is extremely critical.

The name "Julia to the Center" indicates that the image is the center of a Julia set.

The calculation time of 1-1/2 minutes will get the task of running the parameter file out of the way in a hurry.   The joy of visiting the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and viewing the finished image posted there can hardly be surpassed.   Emot

The perfect weather fled fast on Tuesday here at Fractal Central, where grey skies and sprinkles of rain made no one happy.   It was also very humid, making the temperature of 84F 29C feel quite oppressive.   The fractal cats spent most of the day contemplating fractals, while I spent most of the day contemplating and then actually doing work.

The next FOTD will appear from nowhere almost by magic in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and watch for the relief.
