Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: An unexpected rush job came in Monday morning, which kept me occupied most of the day, leaving but little time for fractal work. But I did find something in the parent fractal of the past two FOTD's that barely passes muster as FOTD for June 3. The image is located in the handle of the fan of the parent, and required the outside to be set to 'fmod' and the inside to be set to 'bof61' before it barely made the cut. After a minimum of thought, I named the image "Ultimate Reality" and rated it at a 4. The name implies that the 'ultimate reality' of existence is as much a myth as a 'perfect fractal'. The standard image of God (invisible magician in the sky) falls short of being any kind of ultimate reality. The physical material universe falls even farther short. (We can no longer even be certain it's still there when no one is looking.) And the universe of fractals, ruled by its god the Mandelbrot set, is barely in the running. Pseudo-philosophy aside, today's fractal is not only a less than stellar one, it is also a rather slow one, taking 18-1/2 minutes to calculate on the fastest machine. Luckily, I have sent the image on ahead to Paul at the FOTD web site at: A near perfect day prevailed Monday here at Fractal Central, with lots of sun, low humidity and a temperature of 79F 26C. The fractal cats approved of the conditions by sleeping most of the afternoon. My day was quite busy, which accounts for the less-than-stellar FOTD. But tomorrow should be less busy, which should allow for an improved FOTD. Until that moment arrives, take care, and reality is every bit as real as you need it to be.
