FOTD -- May 06, 2008   (Rating ?)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

How should one rate an image that might not even be a fractal?   I certainly don't know, which is why I consider the rating of today's image to be a question.

The image exists in the same empty circle that held the most recent FOTD image of two days ago.   But today, instead of butterfly-like elements, we have a vague and hard to see spiral that exists in the near-chaos that fills the empty circle when the 'bof61' inside fill is applied to the emptiness.

I named the image "Hidden Spiral" because, unless the function and parameters are set exactly right, the spiral vanishes.   The calculation time of 1-2/3 minutes means that no great amount of time will have been wasted if the image fails to satisfy.

One way of being sure of satisfaction however is to visit the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and view the finished image, which is posted there.

Ideal spring weather prevailed here at Fractal Central on Monday, with full sun and a temperature of 70F 21C.   The fractal cats passed the day unconcerned with the weather, even growing bored with their catnip rats.

My day was average; the next FOTD is due in 24 hours, and for all I know, it will probably appear as scheduled.   Until then, take care, and what is the significance of the number 42?
