FOTD -- April 28, 2008   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I think this is the first FOTD where I have chosen the first spot I zoomed in on to be the FOTD for the day.   I confess, I was just not in the mood on Sunday to search for a better fractal.   Is this the beginning of the end of my fascination with these incredible images?   I think not, but only time will tell.

As for today's image, it lies in the Seahorse Valley area of the same parent fractal that gave us yesterday's image.   I didn't even feel like calculating a new parent fractal.

Of course, I gave the image no rating.   It deserves none.   But I did give it a name -- "A Strange Seahorse".   The name indicates that the Seahorse Valley in which today's image lies is quite strange when compared to the Seahorse Valley of the classic Mandelbrot set.

And the calculation time of almost 10 minutes is notably slower than I would have liked, but relief is at hand on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
where the image is posted for instant happiness.

Sunday at Fractal Central was partly cloudy with a temperature of 63F 17C, while the fractal cats were on their better behavior.   My day was lazy, but not depressingly so.   The next FOTD will be posted for all the world to enjoy in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and spread the word of fractals.
