Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- April 25, 2008   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image takes us to the fractal that is created when the formula Z^sqrt(3)+C is calculated 2 levels up the logarithmic hyper-something when no function is applied.

The parent fractal resembles a half-deflated beach ball draped over the edge of a cliff.   The not-too-attractive and under-iterated minibrot in today's scene resembles its parent beach ball rather well.

The scene is located a short distance to the west of the main bay of the parent fractal, where a zigzag filament is being squeezed between two heavy discontinuities.

I named the image "Total Confusion" after a quick glance showed very little orderliness in it.   Then I let it go without a rating.   I didn't like the image enough to rate it.

The calculation time of 2-2/3 minutes will try the patience of not even the most impatient fractalist.

And last but not least, the finished image is posted for instant viewing on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

Absolutely perfect weather prevailed Thursday here at Fractal Central.   The sunny skies and temperature of 75F 24C made time spent outdoors a pleasure.   The fractal cats, who never get outside to enjoy the weather, were unimpressed.

My day was slow -- once I got the G.D. (graphic design) work out of the way that is.   And better yet, tomorrow is due to be the same.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and what color is the number 8?
