FOTD -- March 30, 2008   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's scene lies in the fractal that results when 0.5 part of Z^(-1.9) is subtracted from 0.5 part of Z^(-1.1) and (1/C) is added.   I'll not try to describe this parent fractal, which is quite typical of this family of fractals and is easily created by the MandAutoCritInZ formula.

The scene is located in a small valley on the shore line of one of the circular bays of the parent.   If the fractal is evaporated and the 'bof61' inside fill applied to the resulting blank screen, the result is an image virtually identical to the actual image.

The rating of a 7 indicates average satisfaction.   The name "On The Trail" can imply anything the viewer wishes.   The calculation time of 4 minutes is average.   The next FOTD will be posted in a near-average time of 24 hours.

The finished image is posted for viewing on the FOTD web site at:

Sunny but unseasonably cold weather made Saturday a mixed blessing here at Fractal Central.   A sunrise temperature of 25F -4C was anything but springlike, but when the strong sun raised the temperature to 50F 10C in the afternoon, it felt almost like spring.   The fractal cats ignored the weather outside, and spent the day by the heat.

My day was notably average, and I made the most of it by being notably lazy.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and did you hear about the ship carrying a cargo of yoyos?   It got caught in a storm and sank 27 times.
