FOTD -- March 11, 2008   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

In today's image we enthusiastically return to the workhorse MandAutoCritInZ formula, where we envision great fractal things, making us enthusiasts who see visions of things that are not really there.

But let's not concern ourselves with whether fractals are subjective things existing only in the mind, wherever that is, or objective things existing 'out there' wherever that is.   Fractals are fun to look at, and that's all that matters.

Today's feathery image most certainly does exist objectively.   All who run the parameter file will see the same thing.   Yet it most certainly is also subjective, for all we can know of it is a picture on a screen.

The scene is located at the edge of the 'fan' of the parent fractal, which itself is a north-south string of large bays, the whole thing surrounded by cut-off rings of all shapes and sizes.

The entire fractal is a fantasy, a "Feathery Fantasy", which I have rated at a 7.   The parameter file runs in 1-2/3 minutes, making this FOTD quite a bargain.   And as always, the finished image is available on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

Rather pleasant conditions prevailed Monday here at Fractal Central.   The temperature of 48F 9C and warm sun felt quite spring-like.   The dynamic duo of fractal cats agreed as they watched a pair of squirrels searching for nuts in the yard.

In my department, the work backup is actually coming under control.   The next FOTD is due, and will likely actually appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and the answer is 42, but what is the question?   (As amatter of fact, I doubt that there ever was a question.)
