FOTD -- February 23, 2008   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I just don't seem able to shake the after-effects of whatever bug has been bugging me for the past week.   Today's discussion is therefore once again brief.

The image shows a minibrot in the Z^(1.09)+C Mandeloid.   This is a fractal of an unusually low order in which to find a minibrot, but with my secret patented minibrot finder, they can easily be found.

I named the image "So Low It's High", a name that makes as much sense as a double-slit experiment.   Since I put so little effort into finding the scene, I gave the image no rating.

Most of the calculation time of almost 9 minutes is consumed by the inside part of the minibrot, which is at a maxiter of 250,000.   This time can be cut considerably by going to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
where the finished image soon will be posted, and viewing it at leisure there.

A most unpleasant day prevailed here at Fractal Central on Friday.   Light snow all morning was followed by light sleet and freezing rain in the afternoon, while the temperature hovered just below freezing.   After dark, everything changed back to light snow, leaving a total of about 3-1/2 inches, or 9cm, of sloppy slush covering the ground.   The fractal cats spent the day ignoring the outside conditions.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and find the proof.
