Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- February 16, 2008   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a further excursion into the debris at the edges of East Valley wedges.   The scene of today's fractal is actually in the valley on the west side of the main bay of the Z^(3.01)+C Mandeloid, but this valley is a mirror image of the valley on the east side of the bay, and therefore has the same characteristics.

In my opinion, the image is one point better than yesterday's, and honestly earns its rating of an 8.   If I had a bit more time to work on the coloring, I might have been able to raise the rating to an 8-1/2.

The fractal picture reminds me of nothing as much as fancy feathers, which is why I named it "Iteration Feathers".   The calculation time of 3-1/4 minutes is suitably brief.   The finished GIF image is available as always on the FOTD web site at:

Heavy clouds and a chilly temperature of 36F 2C made Friday a rather unpleasant day here at Fractal Central.   The only plus was that it stayed dry.   The fractal cats were too busy chasing each other around the place to be concerned with the weather.

My day was perfectly average, as I suppose tomorrow will be.   The next FOTD is due in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and branch out into those curled-up higher dimensions.
