FOTD -- December 15, 2007   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is named "Going-Going-Gone".   I gave it this name when I watched the inside-outside first version slowly evaporate as I raised the bailout radius from 100 to 1-googol.   The rating of an 8 indicates that I was quite satisfied with the evaporated version.   The first version would have rated only a measly 6.

The scene is located in an 'elephant trunk' deep on the southern branch of East Valley of the December parent fractal.   I call it the southern branch because this East Valley consists of two separate branches, much like Seahorse Valley of the Mandelbrot set.

Since the scene is evaporated, it consists entirely of inside stuff made visible by the bof61 inside fill.   This fill is what creates the textured detail throughout the image.

The calculation time of 5 minutes is exact to the 1/100th of a second.   This time is not as fast as I would like, but still fast enough to make running the parameter file only a minor chore.

A faster way to see the image is to stop in at the FOTD web site, where the finished image is or soon will be posted.   The web site may be accessed at:

Friday turned out cloudy but rather mild here at Fractal Central, with a temperature of 41F 5C melting much of the icy slop that fell on Thursday.   The fractal cats spent the day trying to stay out of trouble.

My day was average, which is nearly as good as a day can be.   The next FOTD will be posted in about 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and some of my ideas are crazy, that much is certain.   But I wonder if they are crazy enough to answer the questions.
