FOTD -- October 04, 2007   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image lies in a very unlikely parent fractal -- the one that results when an infinitesimal 0.000000000000000000000000000001 part of Z^(-99) is combined with 1.1 parts of Z2 and (1/C) is added.

This parent consists of a single giant circle filled with detail of the most unusual kind.   A small Mandelbrot set lies on the X-axis at the eastern edge of this circle.   Today's scene is located in the East Valley area of this M-set.

This parent fractal has the strange property of not appearing unless the mathtolerance=0.05/1 command is entered first.   If the parameters are entered without this command, the result is a blank screen.

I named the image "A Hairy Adventure".   It seems a rather pleasant name.   The rating of an 8 indicates that the 2-1/2 minutes spent running the included parameter file will be rewarded by a very attractive image.

The small effort of going to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and viewing the finished image there, will also prove rewarding.

A near perfect day prevailed weatherwise here at Fractal Central on Wednesday.   Unfortunately, the workday was not so perfect.   But the work did get finished, and the fractal was good, so I would rate the day a mild success.   The fractal cats overturned three wastebaskets in agreement.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and don't be haunted by a fractal ghost.
