Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- September 29, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image takes us back one last time to the indescribable parent fractal that has been the source of the FOTD images of the past 3 days.   This time we check the East Valley area of a tiny minibrot that butts against the surprisingly sharp edge of a very large debris field.

While I searched for a name, I imagined the debris field to be changed from spatial to time-like, which would place the scene of today's action right at the edge of time.   The name then was obvious.   The rating of a 7 is arbitrary.   The colors are a bit dull, yet the picture does appear to have an inner life.

The calculation time of 4 minutes on the fast machine or 25 minutes on the slow one is a bit lengthy, but relief is at hand on the FOTD web site, where the finished image is posted for immediate viewing.   The web site may be accessed at:

Perfect end-of-September weather prevailed here at Fractal Central on Friday, as we were graced with sunny skies and a temperature of 75F 24C.   The fractal cats were more interested in a stray cat that has been hanging around for the past several days.

Along with the day's fractal, my day was near normal.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and if fractals are infinitely complex, are they complex enough to have self-awareness?
