FOTD -- September 22, 2007   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

"Here we go again", I thought as I struck the 'enter' key to create today's very fast fractal image.   How many times have I searched for interesting midgets in the fractals with exponents of Z in the range between 1 and 2?   And how many times have I come away only marginally satisfied?   Too many times to count!

Today's scene lies in the Z^(sqrt(2))+C Mandeloid as it appears 1.4142 turns up the logarithmic hyperspiral ladder, where it is little more than a shapeless bay surrounded by a field of chaos, with one dreary bud attached.   The image is located at the edge of the chaos on the west side of the shapeless bay.

I named the image "Here We Go Again" because I knew ahead of time from long experience that the result would not be worth the effort.   Still, I saw enough in the tortured little minibrot at the center to work a bit on the colors and declare the image the FOTD for today.

I could rate the result no higher than a 5, but a 5 is not too bad when the image calculates in a hyper-speedy 14-2/3 seconds.   And even the little bit of effort required to load and run the included parameter file may be avoided by viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site at:

Another near-perfect day prevailed here at Fractal Central on Friday.   The morning fog burned off by 10am, leading to a sunny day with a temperature of 84F 29C.   The fractal cats enjoyed the weather from the indoors, watching the squirrels gathering nuts.

My day was notably normal.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours, give or take a few.   Until then, take care, and might the secrets of the universe be hidden in the manifested abstractions known as fractals?
