FOTD -- September 05, 2007   (No Rating )

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The formula behind today's image subtracts 1/2 part of Z2 from 1/2 part of Z^(-2) and adds straight C.   This formula creates a parent fractal that consists of a scattering of mis-shapen Mandeloids.   Today's scene is located in a valley leading to a minor bud of the largest and most mis-shapen Mandeloid.

I named the image "Replacement Fractal" when I finally gave up on the fractal that was intended to be today's FOTD and pulled up today's image, which I had been saving for just such an occasion.   If I had named today's image, I might have named it something like "Four Golden Orbs".

Rating today's image was out of the question.   To begin, it is not really the FOTD for Sep 5; it is a ringer that slipped in when the real image failed to perform as planned.   So how could I give it a rating?   But with its blue background, brilliant green-yellow orbs, and subtle interior purple, it is not that bad an image, and well worth a look.

That look will require a wait of over 1-1/2 minutes while the included parameter file runs to completion.   Or things can be made faster and more straightforward by visiting the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and viewing the scene there.

The endless string of perfect days here at Fractal Central is getting to be boring.   Totally bored, the fractal cats slept for a good part of Tuesday afternoon.   My day was kept busy with enough commercial work to prevent boredom however.

The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and don't become entangled in the fractal uncertainty principle.   It leads only to paradoxes.
