FOTD -- August 29, 2007   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

I normally place little faith in written revelation, since I can never be sure who or what wrote the revelation, but in today's case I'll make an exception.   In yesterday's discussion I said that the image contains invisible minibrots.   Today's image shows one of these, though the minibrot at the center is still so small as to be virtually invisible.   Since I am the creator of the fractal worlds I calculate and then explore, I naturally named today's image "Fractal Apocalypse".

But I am not totally pleased with what I have revealed today.   Something is not quite right with the colors, which are basically the ones that worked reasonably well in yesterday's image.   My dis-satisfaction shows in the rating of an only-slightly-above-average 6.

Today's scene is located near the center of the large yellow-orangish object located just left of the center in yesterday's image.   The exact location is easy to find.   The calculation time of 5 minutes on the fast P4-2000mhz unit stretches to near 1/2 hour on the old slow P200mhz machine.

But the time spent in calculation is of no consequence when the image is viewed on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
where it is posted for apocalyptic enjoyment.

Tuesday turned out to be near-perfect here at Fractal Central, with blue skies, low humidity, and a temperature of 84F 29C.   I hesitate to call it absolutely perfect because different people will have different ideas of perfection.   But it was close enough to keep the fractal cats out of mischief.

My day was moderately perfect.   Hopefully, tomorrow, when the next FOTD will appear, will be more perfect.   Until then, take care, and apocalyptic or not, the FOTD will go on indefinitely.
