Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- July 21, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The formula behind today's image combines 4 negative parts of Z^(-1.3) with 0.6 negative part of Z^(-6.6) before adding (1/C).   This combination produces a parent fractal that consists of four large north-south oriented bays, a prominent fan, and filaments that terminate in rings.

Today's image was rendered with the default 'equal iteration bands' in effect.   The only special effect is a color palette with very narrow bands.   The scene is located in a valley of a double Mandeloid lying near the east edge of the fan.   I named the image "Intricate Billows" because I couldn't think of anything better.

The rating of a 7 shows that I am pleased with the results of the day's efforts.   The calculation time of just over 3 minutes on a P2000 shows that the image is a relatively fast one.

As has been true for 10 years, the finished image is posted for instant and total enjoyment on the FOTD web site at:

The Friday high temperature of 77F 25C was great, but a few too many midday clouds kept it from being absolutely perfect here at Fractal Central.   The fractal cats enjoyed the near-perfect weather from inside.   My day was about average, which gave me a couple hours to enjoy things.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours, so until then, take care, seek truth, and be sure you know the truth when you find it.
