FOTD -- July 20, 2007   (Rating 6)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The FOTD is once again late.   Please accept my humblest apologies.   My excuse is that one of the fractal cats ate the fractal.   (Actually, I got involved in a book about a theory of [almost] everything.)

Today's image is the fourth consecutive one from the same parent fractal, the fractal created when portions of Z^(1.5) and Z^(2) are combined.   The scene of the image is on the shoreline of the quasi-bud on the negative X-axis of the parent.

I added some extra moxie to the image by rendering it with the inside set to 'FMOD'.   The result, while not exceptional, still rates a slightly-above-average 6.

I named the image "Red Running Riot" for no reason other than I simply felt like it.   The calculation time of 2-3/4 minutes is quite reasonable.   Even more reasonable is enjoying the image instantly by visiting the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
where it is posted in its full semi-glory.   But due to the lateness of the FOTD, it might be a little while before Paul renders and posts it.   If so, be patient.   Patience is rewarded with fractal happiness.

Extreme humidity and occasional spits of rain again made things oppressive here at Fractal Central on Thursday.   The fractal cats were not worried however.   Their problem was trying to find trouble to get into.   My problem was to get the work finished, which I did with no trouble.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and maybe life is just a fractal allegory.
