Fractal of the Day

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: Today's image was found in the same parent fractal that held yesterday's image -- the fractal created by combining Z^(1.5) with half as much Z^(3). But today, instead of examining the shoreline near the negative X-axis, we check the center of the valley on the positive X-axis. We find there a string of interesting fractal objects. But we must go quite deep into one of these before we stumble upon today's image. We go so deep in fact that it was necessary to include the mathtolerance entry in the parameter file to assure that the image calculates at the correct magnitude. And once we have found our scene, we notice that, though the equal iteration bands give a rather good image, the outside=tdis setting does an even better job. After all this finding and rendering effort, I was satisfied enough with the image to name it "Points of Pleasure" and rate it at an 8. The calculation time of 3-2/3 minutes on the new P2000 machine would be stretched to around 15 minutes on the old P200 unit. But the time required to view the completed GIF image on the FOTD web site at: Most everyone agrees that the high temperature of 90F 32C here at Fractal Central on Tuesday was too warm to be considered ideal. And the humidity helped none at all. The fractal cats, unconcerned with the outside conditions, spent the day trying to get into trouble but finding little. My day was spent working and trying to stop the fractal cats from sitting on the work. Cats have a habit of doing this for no apparent reason other than simply to annoy their owners.
