Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- July 07, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The parent fractal of today's evaporated image was created by subtracting 12 parts of (1/Z) from 6 parts of Z^(-3), and adding straight C.   This parent consists of little more than a scepter-like rod in the center of an empty circle.   Today's scene is located in some of the finer intricacies on this scepter.

The entire scene has been evaporated by raising the bailout to 10^(100) and rendering the remaining all-inside stuff with the inside option set to 'bof61'.   The result is the rather striking image that appears as today's Fractal of the Day.

Since the date is an already lucky 07-07-07, I rated the image at a 7 to add to the good luck.   Then I named it "My Lucky Day" to insure good luck.   Nothing has gone wrong yet today, so I guess my lucky charm is working.

The parameter file takes 4-3/4 minutes to run on the fast P2000 computer.   On the slow P200 machine, it would take 25 minutes to finish.   The best way of all to see the image is to visit the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and view the already-calculated finished image there.

Perfect conditions prevailed here at Fractal Central on Friday, both inside and out.   For some unknown reason, the fractal cats forgot their mischievousness and behaved like saints.   In addition, the weather was perfect, the commercial work was light, and the fractal is above average.   The big task will now be to have a repeat on Saturday.

The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and look at old things from a new direction.
