FOTD -- May 13, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

The parent of today's image came about when I combined negative (1/Z) with Z^(-1.3) and added (1/C) to create a curiously distorted Mandeloid with its main period-2 bud hidden beneath a patch of low-iteration stuff.   Today's image is located where a network of filaments vanishes behind another patch of low-iteration stuff.

I named the image "Candy Carnival Corns".   I never did outgrow my taste for those outrageously sweet triangular orange, white and yellow candies.   The rating of a 7 reflects my above-average opinion of the image.

The calculation time of 3-1/3 minutes is true on the new P4-2000 machine.   The old P200 would have taken around 15 minutes to finish the job.   All this calculating may be avoided by taking a virtual journey to the FOTD web site and viewing the completed image there.

Saturday started with near perfect weather, but by mid-afternoon the clouds moved in and light showers began to fall.   The fractal cats paid no attention to the rain.   They were too busy entertaining themselves with their stuffed toys.

My day was busier than usual for a Saturday, but by the time the rain arrived, the work had been finished.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and become a third-degree fractalist.
