FOTD -- April 21, 2007   (Rating 8)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image lies near a shapeless blob in the open heart of the parent fractal that results when 5 negative parts of Z^(-1.618) and 1 negative part of Z^(-8.09) are combined and (1/C) is added.

At first glance the inside parts of the parent fractal appear to be totally empty.   A brief check however shows that the inside parts are filled with a universe of tiny dots.   And a check of these dots shows every one to be a new fractal universe.

Perhaps the most interesting thing with today's image is the outlined midget just right of center.   It is very easy to miss when exploring the apparently featureless fractal interior waste land of the parent fractal.

In my opinion, the image rates an honest 8.   I named it "Fractured Pancakes" because the sliced blobs give the appearance of sliced pancakes cooking on a grill.   The calculation time of 23-1/2 seconds will seem like one nanosecond once the image comes into view.

If one nanosecond is too long to wait for fractal satisfaction, the finished image is posted on the FOTD web site at:

Friday turned into an absolutely perfect day here at Fractal Central, with not a cloud in the deep blue sky, light winds and a temperature of 73F 23C.   It reads great but the fractal cats were not impressed.   They were more interested in wreaking havoc among the empty cartons in the store room.   I was a bit too busy to fully enjoy the outside perfection, but I did manage a twenty minute walk in the afternoon sun.   As always, the next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and what's it all about?
