FOTD -- April 10, 2007   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image takes us into the parent fractal that results when the formula Z^(1.25)+C is iterated 220 levels up the logarithmic ladder.   This parent fractal is a near shapeless thing with one large main bay and only hints of higher-period buds.   It is so shapeless that it must be studied carefully before its Mandeloid characteristics become evident.   Today's image is located in the circle-filled debris piled along the western shore of the main bay of its parent.

I named the image "Galactic Circles" because it is filled with tight little spiral circles that almost resemble tiny satellite galaxies.   But it takes more than a horde of circles to make a fractal worth a high rating, and I could find nothing extra in today's image -- thus the rating of 5.

The render time of 4-3/4 minutes is relatively fast as fractals go.   And even better, the finished image is posted for viewing on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

It has been asked how I find good parameters to enter into the MandelbrotMix4 formula.   In tomorrow's FOTD, we'll start discussing this question.

Monday was another raw chilly day here at Fractal Central.   The sky was cloudy, and the temperature, which should have been near 59F 15C, never made it above 43F 6C.   The only thing missing was the snow flurries.   The fractal cats didn't mind the conditions one bit.   They stayed cozy warm by the heat.

My day was actually close to normal for a change.   And with any luck at all, things will stay this way.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and where there's fractals there's hope.
