Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- March 25, 2007   (Rating 7-1/2)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is once again the product of the MandelbrotBC2 formula.   It was created by iterating the formula Z^(1.618)+C at a level 16 turns up the logarithmic ladder.   The parent fractal is a Mandeloid with its flat-topped period-2 bud facing east-northeast instead of west.   Today's scene lies in a tiny bit of cut-off debris just beyond the butt end of the Mandeloid.

Though I did not take time to think up a clever name for the image, I did decide it is worth a rating of a 7-1/2.   (Nothing is wrong with fractional ratings.)   Coincidentally, the image renders in 7-1/2 minutes.   Not coincidentally, for those who do not calculate parameter files, the completed image is posted on the FOTD web site at:

Heavy clouds, a chilly temperature of 48F 9F, and occasional showers of rain kept the outdoor conditions unpleasant here at Fractal Central on Saturday.   The fractal cats passed the day trying to get an extra treat for nothing.   They did not succeed.   My day was busier than average.   I expect Sunday to be the same.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and be as free as a fractal.
