Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- March 17, 2007   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is not a scene in the parent fractal; it is the parent fractal itself.   It came into being when I subtracted Z^(-1.1) from Z^(1.1) and added straight C.

The prominent boxy effect is a result of calculating the image with the outside set to 'atan' and the inside set to 'bof61'.   Since the image is basically a sample of Fractint's features, and has little other than these special effects going for it, I gave it neither a name nor a rating.

The render time of 27 seconds will try no one's patience.   And the pre-calculated image is available for viewing on the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

Steady snow fell all day Friday here at Fractal Central, while the temperature hovered around 30F -1C.   By evening about six inches (15cm) had piled up.   The fractal cats do not fear snow, especially since they do not have to go out in it.   Unfortunately, I did have to go out, but the midday travel conditions were little worse than on a rainy day.   According to fractal plans, the next FOTD fractal will appear right here in only 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and always plan ahead.
