Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- March 16, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is a study in coloring, which is about the only thing it has going for it.   The parent fractal was created by subtracting 0.5 part of Z^(2.1) from 0.5 part of Z^(-2.1) and then adding (1/C).

This parent fractal is an oversized roughly circular area, filled with debris, with numerous Mandeloid-shaped holes scattered through the debris.   Today's image is located in the East Valley area of one of the central smaller Mandeloids.

Since I spent little time finding the image, I gave it no name, but I did spend extra time coloring it, so I decided to reward myself by rating it a 7.

The calculation time of 2 minutes is well within reason.   Also within reason is the minute or so required to go to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and view the image there.

A cold rain on Thursday morning here at Fractal Central changed to flurries of wet snow in the afternoon.   The fractal cats were more interested in keeping warm than in the outside weather.   My day was once again busy, but it was not as busy as in recent weeks, and the hint of visible light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little stronger.   The next FOTD is due in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and know that fractals are eternal.
