FOTD -- March 08, 2007   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

For today's fractal I checked to see what happens when a tiny bit of (1/Z) is added to the classic Mandelbrot set.   I found that the M-set is distorted, particularly in the area of the period-2 bud and farther out along the X-axis.   Today's slightly awesome scene is located just off the X-axis in the distorted area of this parent.

In keeping with tradition, I gave the image neither name nor rating.   It deserves neither.   But its calculation requires only a brief 2-3/4 minutes, which keeps it from being a total waste of effort.

The most efficient way to see the image is to visit the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
where the image is posted, and enjoy it there.

Wednesday began with a temperature of 12F -11C and light snow here at Fractal Central.   By noon the snow had ended, the sun had appeared and the temperature had reached 28F -2C.   By 5pm the sun had melted most of the new snow and dried the streets.   The fractal cats noticed none of this.   They were more interested in keeping warm.   My day was very busy.   Unless something totally unexpected happens, the next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and be one with the elements.
