FOTD -- February 13, 2007   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image is late.   In fact, with the current work load here at Fractal Central and even more work due in, it's lucky today's FOTD appeared at all.

But since the image did make it, I must give a bit of info about it.   The parent fractal is a grossly oversized thing -- a roughly circular line, with things that could best be described as tennis racquets attached to it.   These racquets were the inspiration for the name "Fractal Racquets".   The scene of today's image is on a filament near one of the smaller racquets.

The generating formula combines various portions of Z^(-1.18) and Z^(-11.8), then adds (1/C), creating a giant fractal with unusual potential.   After a thorough study of all the tiny racquets in the scene, I named the image "Fractal Racquets".

The calculation time of 3-3/4 minutes is thankfully brief.   And as always, the already-calculated image is or soon will be posted to the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html

An unexpectedly mild day on Monday gave a brief break from the prolonged cold.   But snow and ice are forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday, so stay tuned.   The fractal cats were distracted all day, watching the ceiling.   They must think they hear mice in the woodwork.   But cats will be cats, and only they know what they were watching for.   In my department the work is nearing a peak.   If the next few FOTD's fail to appear, it will be a sign I have had no chance to do them.   So tune in in 24 hours to see what happens next.
