FOTD -- December 28, 2006   (No Rating)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's unrated fractal image gives a small example of what happens when 0.1 part of Z^(0.1) is mixed with 2 parts of Z^(2).   The parent fractal closely resembles the classic Mandelbrot set, but the main negative stem has been fragmented into cantor dust.   This parent fractal resembles the stems of Mandeloids in the range of Z^(2.01)+C.   Today's image lies in the East Valley of a large midget located in the split-up main stem.

I named the image "Web of Fortune".   I can give no real reason for such a name except that it popped into my head as I studied the scene.   Most of the effect is due to the random color palette created by striking the 'enter' key while in color mode.

The calculation time of 6-1/2 minutes is slow enough to give the more impatient fractalists reason to skip today's image, so to avoid disappointment, the finished image is posted on the FOTD web site at:

A flurry of snow in the morning and a partly cloudy afternoon with a temperature of 41F 5C here at New Fractal Central on Wednesday was ignored by the fractal cats, who continue to show more interest in the left-over holiday stuff than the outdoors.   They managed to pull a dozen or so ornaments off the tree and bat them to all corners of the house.   Their enthusiasm did not diminish until the evening treat was served.

My day was pretty routine.   The holiday is over and the work could no longer be put off, but I finished it in time to find today's fractal.   Tomorrow will likely be a similar day, with another fractal to ponder.   Until 24 hours has passed, take care, and be of fractal temperament.
