FOTD -- December 27, 2006   (Rating 5)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's image illustrates what happens when the expression Z^(1.1)+C is calculated at a level 111 turns up the logarithmic hyper-helix.   The parent fractal is little more than a misshaped open area with much chaos on its southern shoreline.   Today's scene is located in the outskirts of this chaos.

The midget at the center of today's image can hardly be called a midget.   It is little more than a mis-shaped hole mirroring the shape of its parent.   But the richness of the detail surrounding it more than makes up for its lowly condition.   Midgets in this low range tend to be all alike, which is why finding an extra spectacular one like the one in today's image is an event worthy of FOTD status.

Most of the unusually rich detail in the image arranges itself into rings around the midget, which I have emphasized in the coloring.   The final result impresses me as being worth a rating of 5.   The name "Textured Microbrot" simply describes the image.

The render time of about 6-3/4 minutes on my tired worn-out old computer is barely reasonable for today's notably average image.   A more reasonable way to see the image is to visit the FOTD web site at:
http://home.att.net/~Paul.N.Lee/FotD/FotD.html
and enjoy the pre-rendered image posted there.

The Tuesday weather here at Fractal Central featured clearing skies and a nominal temperature of 45F 7C.   The cats agreed with the conditions and had a pleasant day finishing off the wrapping paper.   My day was slow, which was a pleasant break.   The next FOTD will appear in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and get in touch with the within.
